The Escapismists - Cat and the Queen's Cat Montgomery!
Hi everybody. And welcome to Episode 3 of season 2 of The Escapismists. Thank you for tuning in. I’m very excited about this episode.
Cat Montgomery, also known as Cat and the Queen dropped by my place not long before the lockdown, and, we had a very candid conversation. She’s amazing. She is a songwriter, a singer, a pianist, a writer, and a theatre creator. I thought she made two, but, as I found out in this interview, she’s been the principal creator for three shows, all featuring her own original music.
In this episode of The Escapismists, we talk about bandmates and band life, we talk about her lyrics, and how she puts her stories into her songs, we talk about serving, and the feasibility and squeeze that is an artist’s living in Toronto.
At one point, and if you wanted to skip ahead to this point in the conversation, it’s about an hour into the conversation, I ask her about how she came to the name Cat And The Queen, and the answer that she gives is incredible. It’s so far beyond any ‘musical name’ story I’ve ever heard.
It’s another episode that pre-dates the lockdown, so, you know, we don’t talk about it. So, you get a little break from all that stuff.
This is an episode that I’m very proud of. People have been coming into my house, and they’ve been honest, and generous with their time, and with sharing their experiences, and their deep inspirations for pursuing artistic careers.
